Paper Mountain

This year I have been guided to work with the oak. I find oak to be a very welcoming tree. Indeed I once read somewhere that oak supports over 400 different life forms. Did someone really count them all? I marvel at the task.

I mull a bit longer over the enormity of the job. It is a welcome distraction from my own mammoth task of the morning. The Kitchen table has burgeoned a mountain of paperwork. When did Mount Everest decide to relocate here? I choose to forget the number of seasons we have been cultivating this accumulation and swiftly reorganise the mountain into three molehills. Yes it has that instant psychological effect of making it appear less, maybe I can now leave tackling it for another season.

Not convinced by my argument I commence with the task of sorting and filing. Spirit is watching me and recognising I'm in need of some support and encouragement offers up a piece of folded paper. I open the offering to discover the picture of the oak tree from Nick Butterworth's 'After the Storm'. Thank you Spirit you are right, it is indeed time for me to find new homes for all this paperwork and afterwards I will visit the oaks in the wood behind my house.
